About Us

Based in the cathedral city of Ripon, North Yorkshire, Reet Yorkshire Food was launched by its’ owners Martin and Elissa Bennett in October 2020

Martin has worked in the food industry for the past 40 years, starting his working life in his local Tesco Cheese and Bacon manufacturing plant and progressing into many areas of the food industry including Manufacturing / Sales / Operations / and Marketing sectors.

Where it began

For four years Martin worked for a manufacturer of artisan foods, but when Covid arrived in 2020 he was furloughed and subsequently made redundant.  During this time he decided to “take the plunge” and open his own artisan food business.

The first year of the business was challenging as Martin had to overcome a serious bout of Covid.  In the second year Martin spent a few months recovery from Leukemia. 

In 2022, Elissa joined the business full time and they got married in Zante in June. 

Our Passion

Having a passion for jams, marmalades and chutneys, this felt the natural path to follow and Reet Yorkshire Food was founded.

Aspiring to create a strong brand, which would stand out on the shelves, we worked with a local brand specialist and development team based in Yorkshire.  The brand expresses our passion for robust flavours and colours.

Our Products

As a new start-up business, we have decided to keep the range small (for now) and produce five great flavours of each Jam, Marmalade, Chutneys and Relishes.  We also produce great tasting Lemon Curd, Tomato Sauce and Fruity Brown Sauce. 

We also produce seasonal products such as, Luxury Mincemeat, Cranberry Sauce and Festive Fruit Jam.

We are also passionate about sourcing local produce and using local suppliers for as much of our ingredients as possible.  Our Reet Yorkshire Honey is supplied from a local beekeeper in Ripon.  The Rhubarb and Ginger jam is made from rhubarb grown in Wakefield.

Our Achievements

In December 2022 we were awarded the Salsa Accreditation.  From the start of the business we always strived to work towards these standards.  We are very proud to have achieved this accreditation.

In May 2022 we were very proud to win the New Starter Business of the Year 2022 at the Yorkshire Choice Awards.

In September 2021 we were shortlisted for the Garbutt & Elliott, True Yorkshire Grit category.
